Description:
The Type 93, also known as SAM-3, is a short-range, mobile, air defense system developed by Toshiba for the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF). The system is very similar to the United States Avenger air defense system which uses the HMMWV chassis. The Type also uses a 4x4 chassis fitted with a turret integrated with sensor package and eight ready-to-fire Type 91/SAM-2 surface-to-air missiles.
