Also Known As:
KS-172

Description:
The KS-172/AAM-L was a long range air-to-air missile designed to counter high-value, low maneuverable aircraft such as E-3 AWACS airborne warning and control system and tanker aircraft at ranges of 400 km. The Russians unveiled the AAM-L missile in the 1990s as part of the Su-27M/Su-35 aircraft's weapon options. As of 2007, the AAM-L seems to have been discarded for the Su-35 program and its development may had been cancelled or put on-hold.
