Description:
R-23/R-24 is a medium range air-to-air missile developed for the Soviet Union's Mig-23 Flogger air defense fighter in the 1970s. R-23 can be equipped with either a semi-active radar or infrared homing seekers. R-24 missile is an enhanced version with greater range (approx 50 km) for the Mig-23ML and Mig-23MLD aircraft. Infrared and radiofrequency guidance systems are also available for the R-24 missile. Romania produced the R-23 missile under license with the A-911 designation.
