Description: The R-27 is a medium/long range air-to-air missile designed for Soviet air defense aircraft. It features a modular design architecture to accommodate different seekers and propulsion systems for extended range. Some assessments suggest that the R-27 missile is the Soviet counterpart to the US AIM-7M Sparrow.

The R-27R is a medium range, semi-active radar guided missile intended for the Mig-29 and Su-27 fighter aircraft, as well as other existing Soviet fighters such as the Mig-23 Flogger.
