Description: The R-27 is a medium/long range air-to-air missile designed for Soviet air defense aircraft. It features a modular design architecture to accommodate different seekers and propulsion systems for extended range. Some assessments suggest that the R-27 missile is the Soviet counterpart to the US AIM-7M Sparrow.

The R-27T is a medium range infrared guided missile designed for the Mig-29 and Su-27 fighter aircraft. The IR-guidance system is intended against targets featuring reduced radar cross section and to provide a stealth air-to-air engagement mode due to lack of emissions by the IR seeker.
