Origin:Russia

Description: R-60 is a short range air-to-air missile suitable for a wide range of combat aircraft designed by the former Soviet Union. It comprises a solid propellant rocket motor and infrared guidance system as key elements. Flying at more than Mach 2 R-60 can destroy aerial targets at distances of 10 kilometers. R-60 provides self-defense capability on attack aircraft and complementary engagement capability at short range on fighter aircraft.

The Soviet Union provided R-60 missiles to the following aircraft: Yak-38, Mig-21, Mig-23, Mig-25, Mig-27, Mig-29, Mig-31, Su-15, Su-17M3, Su-22, Su-24 and Su-25. R-60 was also available for the Mi-24 attack/assault helicopter.
