Description: The R-77 is an advanced, long range, air-to-air missile. It has been designed as the Soviet/Russian counterpart to NATO AIM-120 AMRAAM. The R-77 provides multiple targets engagement capability to Mig-29 and Su-27 fighter as well as other aircraft types.

The R-77 has been designed with innovative control surfaces which are one of the keys of its impressive performance. Once launched, the R-77P, also known as RVV-PE, depends on an inertial navigation system with optional in-flight target position updates from the aircraft sensors. When the R-77P missile is at a distance of about 25 km its passive Infrared seeker directs itself towards the radiofrequency-emitting target.
