Description:
Super 530 is a medium range, air-to-air missile (AAM) developed by Matra, now MBDA, for the French Air Force fighter aircraft such as Mirage 2000 and Mirage F1. Super 530 maximum speed exceeds Mach 4 with an average speed above Mach 3 over distances of up to 40 kilometers.
Mirage 2000 aircraft were equipped with Super 530D variant beginning in 1988. Super 530D missiles are being replaced with longer range, semi-active Mica IR/RF missiles. Super 530F is the variant utilized by Mirage F1 aircraft.
