Description: The ADM-160B MALD, formerly Miniature Decoy, is an Air-Launched Decoy designed to protect US fighters and bombers from sophisticated netted air defenses. It will be released from both aircraft types and will feature the same Radar Cross Section (RCS) related to fighter- and bomber-sized aircraft.

The MALD (Miniature Air Launched Decoy) will be employed to overwhelm enemy air defenses being fired in swarms, and to disclose enemy radar systems position with fighters following the Miniature Decoy. Once located the enemy radar system, the fighter will proceed against the radar firing an anti-radiation missile in order to destroy the radar.

The US Air Force plans to procure up to 1,500 Miniature Decoys. Flight tests will be complete in 2007 with the program transitioning into production in 2008 and final deliveries due in 2011.
