INCANS

IOC: 2006

Also Known As
Interference Cancellation System

Origin
United States of America

Contractor/s
EDO Corporation

Applications
EA-18G Growler

Description: The Interference Cancellation System (INCANS) is an aircraft-mounted system that provides secure voice communications with friendly forces while simultaneously jamming enemy communications. EDO Corporation is developing INCANS for the US Navy's EA-18G electronic attack aircraft. The first INCANS System Development and Demonstration (SDD) model was scheduled for delivery to Boeing for testing by June 2006.

The main concern on INCANS is its compatibility with the AN/ALQ-99 tactical jamming system which is another key element to be integrated onto the EA-18G aircraft. The EA-18G electronic attack aircraft equipped with INCANS is scheduled to replace US Navy's aging EA-6B Prowler fleet in 2009.
