Description:
The ALR-67 is the US Navy standard warning system installed on carrier-based, front-line, combat-coded F/A-18C/D/E/F aircraft. It is a compact, lightweight and cost-effective fourth generation warning system providing improved situational awareness. Initial deployment aboard the Super Hornet was conducted during the military campaign in Iraq from 2003.
The proliferation of advanced radar systems, specially pulse-Doppler based radars, has produced an electromagnetic environment that virtually disables existing radar warning systems. The state-of-the-art ALR-67 counters that problem providing reliable situational awareness to modern military aircraft such as the US Navy's F/A-18E/F Super Hornet.
Low rate initial production of the system began in June 1998, followed by full rate production (Lot 1) in August 1999. In April 2005, Raytheon was awarded Lot 7 production contract calling for 42 AN/ALR-67(V)3 warners plus spares valued at $44 million to be delivered between October 2006 and September 2007. Lot 7 production contract included three annual follow-on contract options for 92 additional systems worth $117 million. As of April 2005, the US Navy has ordered 284 ALR-67s.
On May 15, 2006, Raytheon was awarded a contract valued at $36.9 million for 30 AN/ALR-67(V)3 radar warning receiver (RWR) sets plus spares on behalf of US Navy's F/A-18E/F tactical aircraft. The 30 RWR systems to be delivered between October 2007 and September 2008 were issued under Lot 8 contract which also includes room for another 54 sets valued at $72.9 million. The ALR-67 Lot 1 full production contract was awarded in August 1999.
