AN/APG-65

Origin:United States of America

Contractor/s: Raytheon

Description: The AN/APG-65 is an all-weather multimode radar system that enables both air-to-air and air-to-surface missions. The key to the APG-65's flexibility is its programmable digital computers. The built-in test system provides end-to-end radar preflight checkout and continuous monitoring. It also has look-down/shoot-down capability during air-to-air engagements.

APG-65 is capable of tracking 10 targets simultaneously while displays 8 targets. For air-to-surface operations, the radar provides ground mapping modes and other features that make possible the use of guided precision munitions.

The APG-65 is operational in the F/A-18 Hornet worldwide. APG-65s were also supplied to the Greek and German F-4 Phantom aircraft and AV-8B+ Harrier II of the USMC, Spain and Italy.
