P-8A Poseidon

Description: Raytheon's APY-XXX is a wholly new next-generation surveillance and tracking maritime radar being developed to be integrated into the US Navy's P-8A maritime patrol aircraft. Compared with current radars of its kind APY-XXX will be smaller and lighter. Color weather mode, high-speed data collection and an enhanced tracker are highlighted features from this new radar system. Raytheon expects to deliver the first production APY-XXX to Boeing in 2008 for integration into the P-8 aircraft.

On June 6, 2006, the US Navy granted new nomenclature for the Raytheon APY-XXX maritime surveillance and control radar. The AN/APY-10 designation reflects radar design maturation. According to Raytheon, the new radar is lighter and smaller than the APS-137 while delivering the same capabilities.
