Description: The Northrop Grumman Airborne Signals Intelligence Payload 1C (ASIP-1C) is a signals intelligence sensor payload developed for the US Air Force MQ-1 Predator Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV). The US Air Force ordered the ASIP-1C development and MQ-1 integration in April 2008 under a $54.9 million contract with the aim to achieve an initial operational capability (IOC) by 2010. The ASIP-1C is a scaled, modular derivative of the ASIP sensor developed for the U-2 and RQ-4 Global Hawk platforms and will be interoperable with other intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance assets. The new sensor will deliver enhanced communications intelligence collection and exploitation capabilities. The ASIP-1C payload will undergo flight testing in early 2009.
