Description: The Bars is an X-band phased array radar system designed to provide detection, tracking and attack modes against both airborne and ground/sea targets. The radar system was designed to support the guidance of R-27, R-73E and R-77 air-to-air missiles as well as Kh-31A anti-ship missile. In the air-to-surface mode, it provides moving target indicator, mapping and coordinates measurement. The Bars radar system was specifically designed to be integrated on the Su-33 shipborne multi-role aircraft.

The Bars radar system is capable of tracking up to 15 airborne targets while engaging four of them simultaneously. The detection range for airborne targets varies from 60 to 140 kilometers depending on the target's radar cross section (RCS). In the surface surveillance mode, it can detect patrol boats at ranges of 40 kilometers and destroyer-sized ships at ranges of 150 kilometers.

Specifications
Performance: Azimuth Coverage 70 °, Max Detection Range 140 km (76 nm), Max Surface Detection Range 150 km (81 nm), Small Air Target Detection Range 60 km (32 nm), Small Target Detection Range 40 km (22 nm)

Other: Engaged Aerial Targets 4, Tracked Aerial Targets 15
