Description: The Electro-Optical Surveillance and Detection System (EOSDS) is a gimbal-mounted advanced sensor that combines infrared and TV technology to deliver enhanced observation and tracking capabilities to airborne platforms. The sensor set comprises a TV camera and two infrared-imaging cameras that allow for three detection modes while providing continuous/automatic tracking capability. EOSDS was selected by the United Kingdom (UK) Ministry of Defense for its Nimrod MRA-4 aircraft program.
