Description: The InfraRed Surveillance Subsystem (IRSS) is a state-of-the-art sensor designed to detect and accurately track and locate ballistic missiles in the boost and post-boost phases. It comprises 6 Infrared Search and Track (IRST) sensors with a long detection range and a CO2 laser Active Ranging Sensor for track refinement and precise range measurement.

The IRSS will be integrated in the YAL-1A aircraft, project ABL, enabling multiple target detection hundreds of kilometers away.
