Description: The US Air Force Next Generation Missile Warning System (NexGenMWS) program is aimed at providing the next generation missile warning system for large aircraft. The NexGenMWS will help LAIRCM (Large Aircraft Infrared Countermeasures) advanced countermeasures to declare threat missile faster while improving detection probability of incoming missiles in high clutter environments.

The NexGenMWS is now in the system development and demonstration (SDD) phase with Northrop-Grumman and Lockheed-Martin competing for the program. Each company was awarded a contract for the SDD phase worth approximately $30 million in June 2004. The funding covers work on the system through December 2006.
