Description: The Passive Infra-Red Airborne Track Equipment (PIRATE) is an airborne, long-range, line-replaceable unit, Infrared Search and Track (IRST) System integrated on the Eurofighter-Typhoon multi-role fighter. It provides high-resolution, day/night, all-weather, passive air-to-air and air-to-surface modes and is integrated with other onboard sensors and aircraft sub-systems for improved performance. It can detect and track multiple targets.

The PIRATE is being developed and manufactured by the EuroFIRST Consortium (FIAR/Selex Galileo, Thales and Tecnobit).
