Description: The Ericsson Microwave (now Saab Microwave Systems) ERIEYE is a long range airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) system based on an active phased array pulse-Doppler radar. The ERIEYE can be installed on a wide variety of both commercial and military aircraft jet or turboprop. It detects and tracks airborne targets at ranges of up to 300/450 km over land or water and from low altitude up to 82,000-ft. It comprises integrated IFF, ESM, communications, C2 workstations, self-protection system and data-links to provide AEW&C capability.

The ERIEYE radar features a fixed electronically scanned antenna which provides superior resolution over rotodome radars. It tracks multiple targets simultaneously and has a high resistance against countermeasures. Typically, the radar antenna is mounted on the upper fuselage of the carrier aircraft which can be a turbofan or turboprop powered airplane.

The Swedish Air Force operates the ERIEYE radar system on the Saad 340B turboprop aircraft. The aircraft with the ERIEYE radar is called the Argus. In October 2005, Pakistan ordered the Erieye integrated onto the Saab 2000 turboprop aircraft. Greece and Brazil ordered the ERIEYE radar integrated on the EMB-145 turbofan-powered aircraft, also known as the EMB-145 ERIEYE. In 2007, Thailand ordered the Erieye AEW&C system integrated onto the Saab 340B.
