Description:
Elta's Phalcon AEW is an inexpensive airborne early warning radar system designed to perform long-range tactical surveillance of airborne and surface targets as well as signal intelligence (SIGINT) data gathering. Its radar consists of conformal phased array antennas for simultaneous coverage and instantaneous focus on selected targets. These antennas can be mounted in several locations on the aircraft's fuselage and can provide for full 360-degree coverage.
In addition to the radar system, Phalcon AEW also comprises Identification Friend or Foe (IFF); Electronic Support Measures (ESM/ELINT); and Communications Intelligence (CSM/COMINT) systems. To date, the Phalcon AEW has been integrated onto Boeing 707 aircraft. Elta claims that its airborne early warning system can also be installed on Boeing 757, MD-83, and Airbus A321 airliners and various business jets.
