Description: Bombardier CRJ (Canadair Regional Jet) commercial regional jet family was introduced in 1992 with the entry into service of the first CRJ100 aircraft. The twin-engine, single aisle airplane family has been improved all since its inception. Following the success of the CRJ100, Bombardier introduced the CRJ200 with improved engines in 1996, the CRJ700 in 2001 and the newest CRJ900 in 2003. Every model has a high degree of commonality with the rest of the aircraft family lowering spare parts, ground support equipment, maintenance programs and aircrew training costs. The latest addition to this successful family, is an enhanced CRJ900 announced in March 2005 which incorporates structural, aerodynamic and system changes for improved airfield performance.

The Bombardier CRJ200 Special Freighter (SF) is a passenger-to-freighter converted aircraft based upon the CRJ200 regional jetliner. The cargo-configuration conversion program marketed by Aeronautical Engineers Inc (AEI), which is also responsible for the conversion work, is also available for the CRJ100 jet as the CRJ100 SF. The modified aircraft includes a large cargo door. CRJ100 and CRJ200 are being phased out by airlines transitioning to larger regional aircraft. The first CRJ200 SF was ordered by the IFL Group on December 19, 2014.

The special freighter has room for eight pallet (2.56x2.23 meters) positions; up to 14,840-lb main deck payload; large cargo door (2.39x1.96 meters); a maximum range of 1,735 nautical miles (3,200+ kilometers) with a 10,000-lb payload; or a maximum range of 800 nm with a 15,000-lb payload; dual vent door system; rigid 9G barrier; 28-VDC independent cargo door hydraulic system; main deck converted to Class E Cargo Compartment; and cabin windows replaced with lightweight aluminum window plugs.
