Description: The Metis is a lightweight, man-portable anti-tank weapon system designed to be carried by a crew of two dismounted infantrymen. This weapon system has also been designed to engage low-flying helicopters. The Metis command launch unit with a thermal sight weighs about 16 kg and the Metis missile 6.3 kg. The guidance system consists of a wire connecting the Metis missile and the launch unit.

The Metis anti-tank weapon system was deployed with the Soviet infantry beginning in 1978. The Metis missile features a single shaped charge warhead.
