Description: The Type 87 is a medium-range anti-tank missile system developed as the replacement for the Type 64 anti-tank missile system within the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF). Type 87 uses a semi-active laser guidance system and can engage targets at distances between 200 to 2,000 meters. The Type 87 was the first laser-guided anti-armor weapon developed in Japan. The weapon system is intended for use by infantrymen.
