Description: The Kh-58 is a supersonic, anti-radiation missile developed by the Soviet Union to counter enemy air defenses and radar sites operating in A/A', B/B' and C frequency bands. The missile can receive target indication and guidance from the aircraft onboard sensors or from an external pod carrying a sensor set. Equipped with a passive homing head the missile can engage radar emitters day/night and in adverse weather conditions. It was designed as the replacement for older Kh-28 missiles.
The basic Kh-58E missile range varies from 8 kilometers to 200 kilometers depending on the flight path. Typically, the missile was launched from a Mig-25BM, Su-22M4, Su-25TK, and/or Su-24MK aircraft in the Russian/Soviet air force. The Mig-25BM is able to release this missile flying at Mach 2+ at altitudes of 20,000 meters.
