Description: The Joint Strike Missile (JSM) is an aircraft-version of the Kongsberg NSM anti-ship missile specially designed to fit into the F-35 Lightning II/Joint Strike Fighter (JSF). The feasibility study of such a weapon was funded by Norway and Australia. In January 2007, Kongsberg and Lockheed Martin signed an agreement for the joint marketing of the missile for the F-35 aircraft. Kongsberg expects that the modifications on the aircraft and missile required to deploy the JSM on the F-35 will last for three years with an initial operational capability beyond 2010.
