Description:
P-35, SS-N-3 Sepal Western designation, is a family of turbojet-powered cruise missiles used by surface ships, submarines and coastal anti-ship defenses. This missile family comprises the P-5/P-7, P-6, P-35 and S-35 weapons systems. Submarine-launched P-5 relied on inertial navigation and was equipped with a nuclear warhead to attack targets inland. P-7 was an improved model with a range of 1,000 km compared with P-5's range of 500 km.
P-6 is a supersonic variant designed to engage US aircraft carriers and their strike groups. It features an active radiofrequency homing head and either conventional or nuclear warhead. P-6 was also launched from Soviet submarines. P-35 was similar to P-6 but with shortened range and introducing some modifications to be launched from Soviet cruisers. S-35 is a variant intended for coastal defense that can be launched from ground vehicles. S-35 is also called the SSC-1 Shaddock by US/NATO.
