Description:
P-70 anti-ship missile was a scaled-down variant of P-5 submarine-launched cruise missile with shorter range. It was developed as a replacement for P-5 which was discarded by its low speed and jamming vulnerability. P-70, which receives the SS-N-7 Starbright designation, was high subsonic and relied on solid propellant. Its guidance system was based on an active radar seeker which allowed for fire and forget capability. It could be equipped with either nuclear or conventional warhead. The Soviet Union equipped its Project 670A/Charlie submarines with P-70 missiles.
