Description: The Atom advanced amphibious, high mobility infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) is a joint project between UralVagonZavod of Russia and Renault Defense Trucks of France. Renault was responsible for delivering the transmission, the engine, the concept and the fire control system. The Atom 8x8 is armed with an impressive 57mm cannon with an increased firing range of up to 6 kilometers and a maximum rate of fire of 140 rounds per minute. The 57mm cannon is intended to provide fire support against manpower, light and medium armored vehicles, and airborne targets such as fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft and unmaned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The vehicle carries a crew of three-man and eight troops in the rear compartment. The vehicle is provided with a rear ramp and four roof hatches. If this program is successful gaining orders from Armies worldwide the production would be localized in Russia. The new IFV prototype was unveiled at the Russian Arms Expo (RAE) in September 2013. The Atom program was cancelled in 2014-2015.
