Description: The K1 Main Battle Tank (MBT) was developed in the 1980s by Hyundai to meet the requirements of the Republic of Korea Army based on the United States Army M1 Abrams tank. It features a 105mm main gun coupled with a coaxial 7.62mm machine gun and a commander's 12.7mm machine gun. Besides, low-profile, compact, armor protection, and high mobility make the K1 a very survivable battle tank. About 1,500 K1 tank series have been procured by the Republic of Korea Army between the late 1980s through 2010.

The K1 ARV is a tank armored recovery vehicle based on the K1 main battle tank and deployed by the Republic of Korea Army 1993. It was developed by Hyundai Rotem in the late 1980s with assistance from Rheinmetall of Germany. In addition, it provides maintenance services for armored vehicles using its crane system which can lift up to 25 tons. The K1 ARV is equipped with a dozer and a main winch using a dual capstan that can lift up to 70 tons. It is equipped with a roof-mounted 12.7mm machine gun for self-defense purposes only.
