Description: The Republic of Korea's K200 is an amphibious light armored personnel carrier developed by Daewoo Heavy Industries & Machinery, Doosan Infracore and now Doosan DST, based upon the United States Army's Advanced Infantry Fighting Vehicle (AIFV) design intended as a potential replacement for the M113 armored personnel carrier which finally led to the development of the M2 Bradley. Doosan DST developed a complete family of armored vehicles based on the K200/Korean Infantry Fighting Vehicle (KIFV) tracked chassis. These vehicles are powered by a Doosan D2848T diesel engine rated at 350-hp and weigh roughly 12-14 tons. The vehicle's armor provides ballistic protection against 12.7mm ammo in the forward and sideward sections and against 7.62mm ammo in the rearward while the vehicle's also provides protection against anti-personnel mines downward and 155mm artillery splinters upward. The Korean Army took delivery of first K200 armored vehicle in 1984. Several thousands vehicles have been produced for the Republic of Korea Army (RoKA). So far, Malaysia remains as the sole export customer.

The K200 is basically a light armored personnel carrier designed to carry nine fully-equipped infantrymen and a crew of three-man (driver, gunner and commander). The K200A1 is an improved variant with enhanced mobility and greater acceleration. The K200's roof-mounted shielded firing post is equipped with a 12.7mm machine gun and a 7.62mm machine gun as secondary armament mounted on a second cupola. Malaysia purchased approximately 111 K200s armored personnel carriers in the early 1990s. As of late 2010, the K200A1 infantry fighting vehicle are being replace by the K-21 medium armored vehicle which features greater firepower utilizing a turret-mounted 40mm cannon.
