Description: The Republic of Korea's K200 is an amphibious light armored personnel carrier developed by Daewoo Heavy Industries & Machinery, Doosan Infracore and now Doosan DST, based upon the United States Army's Advanced Infantry Fighting Vehicle (AIFV) design intended as a potential replacement for the M113 armored personnel carrier which finally led to the development of the M2 Bradley. Doosan DST developed a complete family of armored vehicles based on the K200/Korean Infantry Fighting Vehicle (KIFV) tracked chassis. These vehicles are powered by a Doosan D2848T diesel engine rated at 350-hp and weigh roughly 12-14 tons. The vehicle's armor provides ballistic protection against 12.7mm ammo in the forward and sideward sections and against 7.62mm ammo in the rearward while the vehicle's also provides protection against anti-personnel mines downward and 155mm artillery splinters upward. The Korean Army took delivery of first K200 armored vehicle in 1984. Several thousands vehicles have been produced for the Republic of Korea Army (RoKA). So far, Malaysia remains as the sole export customer.

The KAFV40 is an infantry fighting vehicle variant of the K200A1 delivering greater firepower using a side-by-side K4 40mm high speed automatic grenade launcher and a 12.7mm machine gun as secondary armament. It is equipped with a manned turret operated by the gunner that accommodates both the K4 grenade launcher and the machine gun. The KAFV40 has been deployed within Korean Army mechanized infantry and cavalry units. In addition to the driver, commander and gunner, the vehicle carries up to five fully equipped infantrymen.
