Description: The LAV 6.0 is a 28-ton class heavily protected wheeled armored vehicle variant of the LAV III developed by General Dynamics Land Systems Canada at the request of the Canadian Armed Forces. The LAV 6.0 armored vehicle incorporates the lessons learned during the LAV III deployment in Afghanistan for over a decade. The upgraded vehicle is equipped with a next-generation 6.0 suspension and a 450-hp diesel engine while the vehicle's protection is enhanced thanks to using a double-V hull and energy attenuating seating as well as add-on armor kits. The LAV 6.0 features a fully digital electronic architecture for improved situational awareness and additional electrical power output to support future requirements. The Canadian Army awarded a contract for the new upgraded vehicles in 2014 and took delivery of them in 2015-2016 with the LAV 6.0 being deployed for the first time outside Canada in 2017 (to Latvia).

The LAV 6.0 Combat Support Vehicle (CSV) is a further variant introduced in 2016 that replaces the turret by a remote weapon station. The LAV 6.0 CSV is available as command post, ambulance and armored recovery vehicle. Despite the vehicle retaining the M242 25mm cannon the turret can be provided with 30mm or 40mm automatic cannons. The Canadian Army plans call for the upgrade of the entire fleet of existing LAV III vehicles to the 6.0 standard to extend its service life to the 2030-2040 timeframe. Saudi Arabia is the first export customer for the LAV 6.0 armored vehicle.
