Description: The Tanque Argentino Medio (Argentinean Medium Tank) TAM was developed in the 1970s as the replacement for the Sherman tanks within the Argentinean Army. The TAM was designed by Thyssen Henschel of West Germany in the late 1970s. In the early 1980s the tank entered serial production in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Compared with other Western tanks the TAM results lighter and smaller because it is optimized for operations in Argentina's countryside. It is equipped with a 105mm gun, one 7.62mm coaxial machine gun and a roof-mounted 7.62mm anti-aircraft machine gun. It is powered by a six cylinder diesel engine developing 720hp and enabling a top speed on-road of 75 kilometers per hour.
