Description: The Titan will be a fast bridge layer vehicle designed to support the British Army Challenger-equipped units. It is based on the Challenger 2 main battle tank chassis and Alvis' BR90 bridge system. The BR90 is a modular tactical bridging system covering close support (tank launched) and general support (truck launched) bridges capable of spanning gaps between 9 to 60 meters. It is considered as the fastest tactical bridging system in the world and the most cost-effective. It features ease of operation, reduced maintenance and high reliability. In March 2001, the Ministry of Defense awarded Alvis a £250 million ($446 million) contract for the supply of 66 Trojan and Titan vehicles in order to replace aging Chieftain-based armored support vehicles.

The BR90 service entered service in 1997 with 200 bridges and 80 launchers delivered to the British Army. Malaysia has ordered 52 meters bridge systems mounted on MAN trucks. It has been proven in both military conflicts and disaster relief in the United Kingdom, Germany, Kosovo, Bosnia and Macedonia. Titan will be able to launch a 26 meters long BR90 bridge in less than two minutes as well as other reduced length bridges. A 7.62mm machine gun will be provided for self-defense purposes.
