Description: The Marte Coastal Defence System (MCDS) is missile system based upon the Marte anti-ship missile family and intended for coastal traffic surveillance and interdiction to hostile ships in territorial waters. The system's modular design allows different configurations operating in stand-alone mode or integrated within an existing surveillance radar network. The system consists of a command and control (C2) module with data-link and radar; a launcher module with up to four firing units each with either four Marte Mk2/N or Marte ER anti-ship missiles; and a logistics module comprising support vehicle and reloading vehicle. The Marte Mk2/N is intended to engage targets in shallow waters and the Marte ER missile is intended to engage ships at longer ranges. MBDA announced the existence of the MCDS missile system in March 2014.
