Description: The Norinco SWS2 is a self-propelled anti-aircraft gun (SPAAG) and surface-to-air missile (SAM) system intended to provide air defense to forward deployed military units. The weapon system consists of a remotely controlled turret equipped with four missiles with an unspecified range able to elevate from -5 to 70-degree. The unmanned turret mounted on 8x8 VN1 armored platform is also equipped with a 35mm single-barrel revolver cannon carrying 400 rounds and able to elevate -2 to 85-degree. The cannon firing 35mm high explosive incendiary (HEI) ammunition has a maximum range of 4,000 meters and can hit target flying at up to 3,000 meters of altitude. The 23-ton vehicle light armor provides protection against small arms fire and shell splinters. The SWS2 is intended to hit a variety of targets ranging from fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft to small drones. The SWS2 was unveiled in July 2016 and is available for export.
