Description: The Silent Hunter is a fiber-optic laser air defense system developed by Poly Technologies of China and designed to counter the threat posed by multiple unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). This Low Altitude Laser Defending System (LASS) is able to hit targets at a range of 4,000 meters with a 30 KW laser beam being carried by a 6x6 truck system or deployed on a fixed position. The laser power output can be scaled down to 5kW, 10kW and 20kW if required. The laser system is able to pierce five 2mm thick steel plates at 800 meters or one 5mm steel plate at 1,000 meters. The Silent Hunter is able to intercept an UAV with a wingspan below 2 meters flying at a speed below 60 meters per second (+200 kph) at ranges between 200 meters and 4,000 meters. The Silent Hunter laser air defense system was first deployed during the G20 meeting in China in September 2016.
