Description: The Spanish Navy's Cantabria Buque de Aprovisionamiento de Combate (BAC) or Combat Supplier Ship is a double hull design military replenishment ship capable of delivering fluids (water, oil, etc) or solids (food, ammunition, etc) to naval combat groups. Besides, she can be used as a floating hospital, for disaster relief or for fighting against sea pollution. A flight deck at stern allows for operation of a single rotary-wing aircraft. Having a displacement of 20,000 tons, two 10,890 KW engines drive the ship at speeds of up to 22 knots and allow to cross ranges of over 6,000 nautical miles. The Spanish Navy awarded the construction contract to Navantia in July 2005, the ship was launched on July 21, 2008 in the San Fernando Puerto Real shipyard (Spain), and is scheduled for commissioning by July/September 2009.
