Description: The Macae, formerly known as NAPA 500, is a 500-ton class patrol boats being built by INACE for the Brazilian Navy featuring steel hull and aluminum superstructure. The Brazilian Navy plans call for the procurement of eight vessels with the first two already ordered and delivered in 2009 and 2010. These vessels are equipped with one Boforst 40 Mk4 gun and two 20mm guns. The propulsion system consists of two MTU 16V 4000 M90 diesel engines developing a top speed of 21 knots and a maximum range of 2,500 nautical miles at 15 knots. As of 2018 only three Macae-class patrol boats have been commissioned by the Brazilian Navy.
