Description: The Finnish Navy Tuuli is a fast hovercraft capable of maximum speeds of 50 knots and constructed from welded panels and intended to serve as missile boat in the littoral environment. The welded panels are of thin marine aluminum sheets and extrusions connected with light-weight composite constructions. The propulsion system consists of two gas turbine engines developing 6,000 kW which provide power to both the ducted air screw propellers and the lift fans via an integrated power transmission system. The wheelhouse and the cabins for the 10-man crew as well as the operation, service and machinery spaces are situated in the middle of the ship. The spaces for weaponry and fans are towards the sides. The weapon system consists of missiles, anti-aircraft weapons, or mines or torpedoes. The Tuuli hovercraft was handed over to the Finnish Navy in 2002.
