Description: The M45 is a three stage, solid fuel, submarine-launched, intercontinental range, ballistic missile (SLBM) equipped with multiple nuclear warheads (MIRV). It features an inertial guidance system and 4 TN-75 nuclear warheads with penetration aids such as decoys and countermeasures.

The M45 ballistic missiles have been provided to Le Triomphant-class nuclear-powered strategic submarines and L'Inflexible-class submarines. Each submarine can carry up to 16 M45s.

The French Defense Procurement Agency (DGA) and the French Navy conducted a flight test involving the launch of a M-45 ballistic missile on February 2, 2005. The launch was performed from a Le Triomphant-class submarine in waters of the Atlantic Ocean. The test objective was to demonstrate the suitability of the submarine and the M45 ballistic missile. French officials from Les Landes test center and onboard Monge experimental vessel monitored the M45 missile all over its trajectory.
