Description: Bombardier Challenger is a family of twin-engine, medium-size corporate jet with a seating capacity ranging from 8 to 50 passengers. Passengers can afford enough room to conference and work while enjoying the aircraft's comfortable cabin. The Challenger fills the gap between the smaller Learjet and the huge Global which is more suitable for intercontinental trip rather than US coast-to-coast flights in the Bombardier product line portfolio. Challenger family also outstands by its reliability and long term service.

The Challenger 800 is the largest and most versatile aircraft of the Bombardier Challenger family of business jet. The Challenger 800 in the executive configuration can carry up to 19 passengers over distances of 3,120 nautical miles (5,700+ km). The corporate shuttle configuration allows to airlift up to 50 passengers over distances of up to 2,249 nautical miles (4,100+ km). The Challenger 800 features easy maintainability and low direct operating costs and some advancements introduced on the successful CRJ200 jetliner.

Externally, the longer range Challenger 800 Executive and the high density Corporate Shuttle share the same dimensions. The Corporate Shuttle cabin layout allows to accommodate a crew of three and up to 50 passengers while the Executive model only accepts a crew of two and up to 19 passengers. Both Challenger 800 models are powered by CFM International (GE/Snecma) CF34-3B1 turbofan engines rated at 9,220 pounds each at take-off.

In May 2005, Bombardier created a complete aircraft portfolio based on the Corporate Shuttle. The models being offered were the Challenger 850, 870 and 890. In June 2005, Bombardier logged its first order for the Bombardier Challenger 850 during the Paris Air Show.

On 6 October 2003, Penske Jet acquired a Challenger 800 business jet.

On 30 March 2006 Bombardier announced that the first Bombardier Challenger 850 corporate shuttle was entering into service with Suncor Energy Inc. in Alberta, Canada. The first Challenger 850 executive jet was delivered to an undisclosed Russian customer on November 8, 2006.
