Description: The Citation is a family of business jets developed by Cessna Aircraft Company, a Textron owned company, to meet the requirements of customers operating from regional to intercontinental routes. Citation jets are powered by two turbofan engines and cruise at high speeds while delivering outstanding comfort to the passengers in their spacious cabins. Cessna has received more than 5,300 Citation jets orders since the program inception in 1975. As of early 2008, the Cessna Citation production models are: CJ1+, CJ2+, CJ3, Encore+, XLS+, X, Sovereign, and Mustang with CJ4 and Columbus models to join Cessna's product line in 2010 and 2014 respectively.

The Model 850 Cessna Citation Columbus is a twin-engine, large cabin, intercontinental range business jet featuring an aluminum airframe, fuel efficiency and environmental friendly design. Cessna Aircraft Company officially launched the program as the Large Cabin Citation in January 2008 as the largest business jet developed by Cessna ever. According to the program schedule, released by Cessna on 6 February 2008, the Citation Columbus jet will perform its maiden flight in 2011. FAA type certification award is expected by the end of 2013 with first customer deliveries scheduled for 2014. The Citation Columbus will provide a seating capacity for up to 10 passengers.

With an estimated range of 4,000 nautical miles (7,400 km), the Columbus jet will carry eight passengers in a high comfort cabin with outstanding seating room cruising at .80 Mach. The key program partners are: Pratt & Whitney Canada which will supply the PW810 engines each rated at 8,830-lb of thrust; Rockwell Collins will supply its Pro Line Fusion advanced avionics suite; and Spirit AeroSystems that will produce the aircraft's fuselage and empennage. The newly engineered wing is moderately swept, and the entire aircraft surface is contoured based on results from the computational fluid dynamics analysis and wind tunnel verification.

Pro Line Fusion avionics suite features: four 15-in LCDs; synthetic-enhanced vision; MultiScan Weather Radar; auto throttle; Advanced Flight Management Systems (FMS) with Wide Area Augmentation System that supports Localizer Precision with Vertical guidance approaches (WAAS/LPV) and Required Navigation Performance (RNP) capabilities; Traffic Surveillance System with Automatic Direct Surveillance Broadcast (ADS-B) capabilities; Information Management System (IMS) to manage databases and facilitate wireless interactivity with the ground infrastructure; Optional heads-up display, predictive windshear weather radar, Controller-Pilot Data Link Communication (CPDLC) and Surface Management System.
