Description: Bombardier Learjet is a family of twin-engine, light business jet evolved from the Learjet 23/24 introduced in 1964. Bill Lear's company, the original manufacturer of Learjet, was acquired by Bombardier in 1990. These jets provide high-speed performance and outstanding comfort thanks to its spacious cabin. Currently, Bombardier is marketing the Learjet 40/40 XR, Learjet 45/45 XR and Learjet 60 jets but the full Learjet product line has seen around 13 models since its inception in 1963 through 2005. These business jets incorporate improvements developed for larger aircraft at Bombardier.

The Learjet 45 light business jet was introduced in 1997 offering outstanding performance for executives and leaders which require a fast and comfortable transport. The aircraft is so sophisticated that many commercial airlines are training their pilots using his jet. Cruising at Mach 0.79, powered by two Honeywell TFE731-20-AR engines rated at 3,500 pounds each and carrying a crew of two and 9 passengers, Learjet 45 has a maximum range of 3,700+ km.

The Learjet 45 XR is based upon Learjet 45 delivering greater maximum range with greater number of passengers as well as improved performance in hot conditions and high altitude. It entered service in 2003 and is powered by two Honeywell TFE731-20-BR engines. Its seating capacity remains the same of Learjet 45 and its maximum ranges is in excess of 3,800 km.

On 13 April 1999, UK-based Gold Air International placed an order for two Learjet 45 business jets plus two aircraft on option. On 16 November 1999, Swiss operator Execujet placed an order for 12 Learjet 45, Learjet 60, continental business jet and special edition aircraft valued at $145 million with deliveries due to begin in the year 2000. On 4 April 2000, Egypt's ARTOC Group purchased a Learjet 45 business jet. On 12 December 2001, Avolar placed an order valued at $632 million for 57 Learjets including 15 Learjet 5 and 10 Learjet 60. Aircraft deliveries were set to begin by mid-2002.

On 11 February 2003, Gold Air International placed an order for five Learjet 45 XR valued at $55 million. Aircraft deliveries were scheduled to begin in 2004 through 2005. On 12 March 2003, Ocean Air Aero Taxi purchased a Learjet 45 XR business jet. On 24 February 2004, Japan's Global Wings placed a firm order for one Learjet 45 XR and took option on a second aircraft.

On 19 July 2006, Pakistan's provincial government of Sindh signed a contract with Bombardier Aerospace for the supply of one Learjet 45 XR super light business jet. The airplane will be based in Karachi and was scheduled for delivery in late 2006.
