Description: The Rheinmetall 120mm L44 smoothbore gun fires all NATO 120mm standard ammunition and has been designed for integration into main battle tanks (MBTs) such as the Leopard 2 of Germany, M1A1 Abrams of the United States of America, Type 90 of Japan, K1A1 of South Korea and Ariete of Italy. The 120mm L44 is the leading tank gun of its category and is/was manufactured under license in the United States of America and Japan. The gun has been optimized for engagement against heavy armored targets such as MBTs and fortifications. The 120mm L44 entered service along with the Leopard 2 A4 tank in 1979.
