Description: The AK-308 is a 7.62x51 mm assault rifle developed by the Kalashnikov Concern combining the AK-103 assault rifle with certain elements of the AK-12. The rifle is longer and heavier than the AK-12 featuring the same adjustable stock and a redesigned gas tube. The AK-308 fires NATO standard ammunition and is expected to enter mass production within 2019. It has been cleared for use by the Russian Army, Naval Infantry and the Airborne Troops. The new rifle fires a new armor piercing round developed in Russia in order to take out infantrymen equipped with the best armored vests. From an operating point of view the new assault rifle is well suited for mountain, desert or urban warfare. The AK-308 is also available for civilian customers acting as hunting rifle beginning in 2020.
