Description: The Dragonfire is a laser weapon station demonstrator developed by the Dragonfire consortium on behalf of the United Kingdom (UK) Ministry of Defense (MoD). It was developed under the Laser Directed Energy Weapon (LDEW) Capability Demonstrator Programme (CDP). Trials of the new laser weapon station are expected to begin in 2019. A fully operational Dragonfire will be able to provide short-range air defense against a wide range of airborne threats to both land and sea-based platforms. The Dragonfire weapon station was introduced at DSEI exhibition in September 2017.
