Description: The Maritime Indirect Fire System (MIFS) is a new naval gun system being developed for the Royal Navy Type 26 Global Combat Ship (GCS). The new gun system is based upon the Mark 45 5-inch (127mm) 62-caliber gun operated by the US Navy and will be delivered by 2020. The MIFS features an automated ammunition handling system, gun fire control system, and qualified ammunition.
