Description: The Mk 45 is a 127mm 45 calibers lightweight naval gun in service in various US Navy ships providing surface fire support against fast, highly maneuverable surface targets, air threats, and shore targets during amphibious operations. The Mk 45 replaced the Mk 42 naval gun providing significant improvements in terms of reliability and maintainability over its predecessors. The Mk 45 naval gun is currently deployed on US Navy's Ticonderoga-class cruisers and Burke-class destroyers. Many other navies worldwide have adopted the 127mm/5-inch Mk 45 lightweight gun.
